Emmy Award Winning Producer
Renee is an experienced filmmaker, production executive and Emmy Award winning Producer. Renee often combines her passion for music and film and has documented tours with Sublime, No Doubt, the Foo Fighters, Fishbone, Mike Watt, and Lee “Scratch” Perry, among others. She was a producer on the Sublime documentary Stories, Tales, Lies and Exaggerations, and the music series Refused TV, as well as numerous music videos, documentaries and scripted features. Renee received an Emmy Award on the PBS series, The Evolving Human, and served as VP of Production & Development at Relentless Media.
In 2019, Renee produced for the Netflix music series, Remastered, receiving Emmy nominations for the episodes Tricky Dick and the Man In Black, Who Shot the Sheriff and Massacre at the Stadium. Most recently she was Supervising Producer of a 6-part CNN series, The Story of Late Night that will air in 2021, produced a branded documentary for Estee Lauder and is Creator/Writer/Executive Producer of a new music series about touring seminal African American musicians during the era of Jim Crow. Renee has a keen eye on the bottom line, combining creative vision with production logistics, has dual citizenship, and produces for both Canadian and American productions.

THE CHITLIN CIRCUIT

B-Side Films has partnered with Preston Lauterbach, award-winning author of “The Chitlin’ Circuit and the Road to Rock and Roll”, to conceive a four-part narrative-documentary series that explores the story of the seminal African American performers who travelled a network of southern black performance venues, known as “The Chitlin Circuit”, during the era of Jim Crow. Artists including Little Richard, Otis Redding, Chuck Berry, Sam Cooke, James Brown, Tina Turner, Pattie Labelle, Candi Staton, Aretha Franklin, Smokey Robinson and many more worked the circuit endlessly, chasing a dream of both stardom and change.
